Take it all to the Cross

One of the highlights of the youth conference was when we invited the youth to take their burdens, sins, and lies they had believed, to the cross. Then we took them all outside and burned them. The mood was one of lament. They sang several songs before their crumpled papers were lit on fire and the serious tone continued even after the fire died down. The length of time made me uncomfortable, but it was what they needed. After some time, the beat quickened and there was a great celebration.  Here are Nora and Wendell carrying the burdens and the cross. One of the miracles is that everyone made a perfect circle around the fire. I’ve never seen that before.

Nora and Wendell also did a great job in the skits including playing Adam and Eve. Unfortunately, I don’t have a picture as I was busy playing the serpent.
